Art Omi: Artists is the visual-art residency of Art Omi, a not-for-profit arts centre in Ghent, New York, in the Hudson Valley. Each June and July it hosts two dozen international artists alongside two resident critics or curators.
Residents make new work, get studio visits from critics, curators and gallerists, and close with a public Open Studios. The main call for 2027 has closed; the open call runs once a year from mid-August.
Benefits & funding
- Private studio, private bedroom in shared housing and three daily meals at no cost, 17 June–12 July 2027.
- Travel and materials are the artist’s own unless a fellowship covers them.
- Fellowships in the cohort pay a US$500 stipend, most with a travel grant; the Every Page Foundation Fellowship (women from underserved communities) pays US$2,000.
- Art Omi issues a participation letter for visa applications.
Eligibility
- Any nationality and place of residence; visual art, sound, performance and social practice.
- At least five years of professional exhibiting practice, shown in the CV; no art degree needed.
- Aged 18 or over when applying.
- Current BFA or MFA students cannot apply; PhD students and non-arts master’s students can.
- Submitted work must date from the past ten years.
- Past Art Omi: Artists residents cannot reapply.
- Application in English.
- Country fellowships add their own gates, e.g. Australia: living and working there legally, with ten years of practice.
