The American Research Institute of the South Caucasus supports graduate and postdoctoral research concerning Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Projects may involve research in one or more of these countries, and the budget guidance also allows applicants to propose a remote-research scenario.

Benefits & funding

  • Grant support may cover eligible project costs such as economy travel, ground transportation, lodging, meals and incidentals, a local SIM card, internet, and utilities.
  • Applicants proposing both travel and remote-research scenarios must prepare a separate budget for each.
  • The maximum award for the next cycle has not been announced on the official pages reviewed.
  • Medical, emergency-evacuation, repatriation, and other insurance cannot be charged to ARISC funds.

Eligibility

  • Applicants apply individually as graduate students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral scholars, or other eligible scholars described in the full call.
  • Eligible citizenship or residence routes are U.S. citizenship, Canadian citizenship, U.S. permanent residence, or Canadian permanent residence.
  • Research must concern the South Caucasus and may be conducted in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, or remotely where the renewed call permits.
  • ARISC membership may affect eligibility; applicants should confirm the exact membership requirement in the renewed full call.
