Arctic Digital Nomads links remote workers with three small northern coworking communities: Vágur in the Faroe Islands, Þingeyri in Iceland’s Westfjords, and the Geirangerfjord villages of Geiranger, Norddal and Eidsdal in Norway. Once a year it awards a grant that lets a group of participants live and work in one of those villages for one to three months across winter and early spring. Accommodation and office space are covered; participants keep their own job or creative practice and work remotely from the village. There is no set curriculum and no research output required, but the host does ask every participant to give something back to the community in a way that fits their own skills and interests. The stated aim is connection, with nature, with other nomads, and with the local community. Each site is run with a local partner: the Municipality of Vágur, Blábankinn in Þingeyri, and Fjord Cowork in the Geirangerfjord area.
Benefits & funding
- Accommodation for the whole stay, fully covered — a private home, cabin (hytte) or apartment, always with its own kitchen and bathroom.
- Electricity and water included.
- A fully covered place in the local coworking space, with high-speed Wi-Fi.
- A few group activities and organized trips (the host notes these are still to be confirmed).
- Introductions to the other grantees and to the village community.
- Duration: one to three months, with stays at some locations extending into May.
- Not covered: travel to and from the destination, food, and personal expenses.
- No cash stipend is paid — the award is the covered stay itself.
Eligibility
- Open to all nationalities. Applicants check visa rules for Norway, Iceland or the Faroe Islands themselves; the team states it is too small to give individual visa assistance.
- For people who work remotely — designers, developers, writers, researchers and artists are all named as welcome. No specific technical skills are required.
- No degree, age or work-experience requirement is published.
- A partner, children or friends may be included in the application; one shared application per group.
- Pets can be accommodated if noted in the application.
- The host looks for people who are independent yet community-minded and who want life in a small Arctic village.

Application process
