The Arab Documentary Photography Program Alumni Fellowship is produced by AFAC with Magnum Foundation, For Freedoms, and Prince Claus Fund. It gives previous ADPP grantees a second-stage route to develop individual or collaborative documentary-photography work connected to Arab socio-cultural realities.
Projects may be carried out in any country and may extend beyond photography into other media or new output forms. The latest published call opened March 23 and closed May 11, 2026, so the program is currently between annual cycles.
Benefits & funding
- The 2026 call offered grants to up to six projects over a maximum of 12 months.
- Research and Development grants offered up to $5,000; Production grants up to $12,000; and Knowledge Production grants up to $20,000.
- Funding may cover research, production, and dissemination costs incurred after contracting; completed projects are not funded retroactively.
- Fellows receive up to 10 months of consultancy, meet online with program leaders and relevant experts, present final projects virtually, and lead one online session for current ADPP grantees.
Eligibility
- Only previous ADPP grantees who completed all original grant and project requirements before the call opened may apply.
- Applicants must work independently and hold full copyright ownership of the proposed project.
- Applicants are ineligible if they hold an open AFAC grant, sit on the current jury, or received two consecutive AFAC grants without the required two-year interval.
- Projects may be implemented in any country but must relate to Arab socio-cultural realities.
- The published eligibility rules state no degree, age, gender, nationality, or residence requirement beyond prior ADPP grantee status and the listed AFAC grant conditions.

Application process

- 4Submit up to two proposals; if submitting two, make at least one a collaborative, team-based project.
- 5Include any format-specific evidence required for training, publication, exhibition, or convening proposals and confirm receipt by email.
