The Amgen Scholars Program — Australia gives undergraduates a full-time research placement at the University of Melbourne. Scholars join a laboratory, work with a mentor, and present their research to the cohort and University community.
The 2027 program runs in Melbourne from 3 January to 19 February 2027. Participants are also invited to the Amgen Scholars Program Asia Symposium in early August 2027, with exact dates still to be confirmed.

Eligibility
- Be an undergraduate enrolled at an accredited college or university in Australia, New Zealand, or the Pacific region of Oceania; this is an institution-location requirement, not a nationality requirement.
- Complete two years of an Australian-equivalent Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field before the program begins, with at least two semesters of undergraduate study remaining after it ends.
- Hold a WAM equivalent to at least 75%, or GPA 3.2, in relevant first- and second-year subjects; Indigenous applicants may instead qualify with a relevant WAM of at least 55%.
- Demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and interest in a research higher degree in a scientific field.
- Applicants from any major may apply, but they are expected to have experience appropriate to their selected research project. Prior research experience is not required.
- Foreign nationals must have work and study rights in Australia. There is no stated age, gender, or work-experience requirement.

Application process
