Amgen Scholars Canada Program — Research Program

The Amgen Scholars Canada Program is a 10-week, full-time biomedical research experience hosted by the University of Toronto with Amgen Foundation support. Scholars conduct laboratory research with faculty mentors and join seminars and professional development.

The program is based at the St. George campus in Toronto. Ten scholars live together, present their work and attend the North America symposium.

CAD 6,500 stipend.

Paid travel to and from Toronto.
All-expenses-paid participation in the National Amgen Scholars Program Symposium in July.

Eligibility

Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Must attend an accredited four-year university in Canada as a second-, third- or non-graduating fourth-year undergraduate.
Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
The host page asks for interest in an M.Sc., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.; the central page states an interest in pursuing a Ph.D.
Any major may apply, and previous research experience is not required.
Scholars must participate full-time for 10 continuous weeks, live in campus accommodation, and take no courses or work during the program.

Application process

Submit Part 1 to receive an Applicant ID.

Ask two eligible referees to submit confidential letters by 1 February 2027.

Select three potential mentors and explain the fit with each laboratory.

Complete the Part 2 responses and upload a transcript; an unofficial copy is accepted initially.

Submit the completed application by 1 February 2027.
