The Alexia Health Grant for Students was a 2026 pop-up production grant for student photographers and filmmakers exploring health-related issues. The Alexia at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications administered the grant, which David Sutherland sponsored in memory of Pei Lin Huang.

Applicants used the general Alexia Grants submission and opted into consideration for this health grant; the same proposal was automatically considered for the Vision Grant. The deadline passed on February 13, 2026, and no future student health-grant cycle has been announced.

Benefits & funding

  • The recipient received a $1,000 grant to advance the proposed health-focused visual project.
  • Student submissions were free.
  • The same proposal was automatically considered for the Alexia Vision Grant without a separate application.

Eligibility

  • Applicants had to enter through the student category as photographers or filmmakers.
  • The proposed project had to explore a health issue with depth, clarity and compassion.
  • Each person could submit only one proposal during the 2026 cycle.
  • The published rules stated no nationality, residency, age or gender restriction.
