Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation (AIG) Scholarship — Master's Scholarship

The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation (AIG) Scholarship funds a public servant working in Nigeria to take the one-year Master of Public Policy (MPP) at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government. The foundation runs it with the School as part of its work developing leaders in government.

Since 2017 the foundation has awarded 32 scholarships, each worth over £70,000. The School now lists one award per year.

Scholars study full time in Oxford for a year. They then return to their organisations in Nigeria’s public service to apply what they learned.

Full MPP course fees (£54,650 for 2026–27) plus a set amount for living expenses.
The foundation also funds a stipend for the summer project; each scholarship is valued at over £70,000.
Coaching and mentoring, career-development planning, summer work placements and international networking.
One-year, full-time MPP in Oxford, ending with a placement at a policy-focused organisation.

Eligibility

Ordinarily resident in Nigeria.
Currently employed in the federal or state public service in Nigeria.
Aged 25 to 45.
At least seven years of work experience.
A bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class upper (2:1).
A clear commitment to continuing in Nigerian public service; scholars return to their organisations after the degree.
An offer for the Oxford MPP; applicants usually have at least two years of professional experience rather than this being a fixed minimum, and the MPP also seeks evidence of English proficiency.

Check the foundation’s AIG Scholarship page for the current call and complete the foundation’s application.

Apply to the Oxford MPP by the 2 December deadline (the School advises submitting by mid-November) with a personal statement, a reflective policy essay, a public service essay, a CV, transcripts and three references.

If you receive an MPP offer, complete the Blavatnik School Scholarship Questionnaire, usually within one week of the offer.

The foundation selects the scholar; the 2024 scholar was announced in late August, a month before the course began.
