Official Page

Özyeğin University hosts five undergraduate interns in Istanbul for research spanning manufacturing, transportation, and logistics. The project combines mathematical optimization and machine learning to develop decision tools for industrial systems.

Participants analyze real or simulated data, formulate scheduling, routing, or resource-allocation models, test metaheuristics, and integrate machine learning into optimization pipelines. Assistant Professor Milad Elyasi supervises the project.

Benefits & funding

  • Participants receive accommodation and lunch during the summer term, plus laboratory access, technical training, and guidance.
  • The project provides hands-on work in modeling, algorithm design, computational experiments, documentation, a final report, and a research presentation.
  • The official materials do not state a cash stipend or travel support.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be undergraduate students in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Applicants must have completed at least 180 ECTS, corresponding to senior standing, and hold a GPA above 2.7.
  • Applicants need basic knowledge of optimization algorithms, mathematical modeling, or machine learning.
  • Python proficiency with NumPy and Pandas is required; Pyomo or Gurobi experience is preferred.
  • Students enrolled outside Turkey and Özyeğin University students may apply; the official materials state no nationality or residency restriction.
