The A. Wilhelmsen Foundation funds this scholarship, and BI Norwegian Business School administers it and follows recipients’ academic progress. Recipients pursue an eligible Master of Science degree in Norway.
For the academic year starting in autumn 2026, two scholarships were available. The award does not include an attached internship, thesis-advising arrangement, or job opportunity.
Benefits & funding
- NOK 250,000 per year.
- BI pays the scholarship by semester, subject to satisfactory study progress under the scholarship contract.
- Second-year renewal requires 30 ECTS in each semester, a minimum cumulative ECTS grade of B after each semester, and service as a BI Ambassador under duties specified in the contract.
Eligibility
- Must be an international applicant who is a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA, and Switzerland and who resides outside Norway when applying.
- Must apply to and be accepted into a BI Master of Science programme beginning in autumn 2026.
- Must be seeking a first master’s degree.
- Must meet the general and programme-specific master’s admission requirements; required GMAT or GRE and English-test results, or applicable waivers, must be in place by the scholarship deadline.
- Applicants eligible for Norwegian tuition-fee reduction or a Lånekassen student loan are treated as domestic applicants for scholarship purposes.

Application process
- 1Select an eligible BI Master of Science programme and check both its general and programme-specific admission requirements.
- 2Prepare a scholarship letter of no more than one page, addressed to the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation Board, plus the required admission documents and CV.
- 3Combine the scholarship materials as instructed and upload them in the scholarship section of BI’s online admission application; applications are not submitted directly to the Foundation.
- 4Submit the complete admission and scholarship application by 1 March.
- 5Accept any admission offer to remain under scholarship consideration and await the separate scholarship decision later in spring.
